Decipedes are intelligent, semi-humanoid creatures not quite like anything else, though perhaps most closely resembling centaurs. Aside from their black compound eyes and the small chittering mandibles discretely tucked within their cheeks, the parts that make up their anatomy are all clearly human. It is the distinct configuration that sets them apart: a decipede has two pairs of arms, and marches on three pairs of legs. Although most have dominant upper arms, about one in ten have dominant lower arms, and may be accepted into the soldier caste.
Generally, Decipedes are a peaceful lot, preferring to indulge in the pleasures of food, drink, smoke, and company. If pushed to the point of defense, however, their military force is not to be underestimated. Exceptional climbers, they tend to dwell in rocky areas, such as hills, or even caves dotting the faces of cliffsides.
Smaller clans can sometimes be found among trees in more wooded areas. These forest decipedes have a mottled pale green skin that helps them hide in the foliage, and they tend to be more distrustful towards outsiders.
